Happy Indigenous People's Day!!!

On a recent trip to Cherokee North Carolina, home to the Eastern Band of the Cherokee Nation, I spent a couple hours at Qualla Arts and Native American Craft Shop. It was very important to me to find pieces to support the local tribe and spend dollars in the community.

During my travels I like to support local artisans; my home is filled with paintings, photographs, and art pieces and the majority are from Indigenous artists. Now that I downsized, the walls are covered(even the master bath) and cabinets are full, I now seek out jewelry (smaller and sparkles)! Seems like where ever you turn lately on social media you see fall foliage pics. I get it , fall is my favorite season and I have a couple hundred pics in my reserve from the last few weeks also. No need to fret, I'm giving you a break from fall foliage and starting to post pics and clips of Fall Cocktails!!! If there was only a cocktail season, oh I guess that's called happy hour😄.

I'm not one to share my personal life unless in my soul I feel like somebody need to hear and receive a message. Today I feel that way.

I had a win last week, but was so busy waiting for the other shoe to fall I could not enjoy it and see the blessing that was upon me. When I was congratulated on my win by a friend, I stated "I want to be excited, but couldn't because I'm waiting for the other shoe to fall". They responded simply by saying "When you go through an ordeal like you just went through, including all the other burdens placed upon you, even getting through things makes you feel numb as you survived when truly you have accomplished and done so much".

So today I celebrated my win by getting all dolled up, having cocktails and a steak dinner and ending my evening with the ladies @cultivatedcocktailsdistillery for smoked old fashions (with rum)!!!

So morale of the story life is precious, everything has a way of working itself out, surround yourself with people who show you light in darkness, celebrate the wins no matter how large or small, and remember this too shall pass.

A little leaf peeping action at Grandfather Mountain yesterday.

At 5,964 feet in elevation, Andre Michaux in 1794 claimed "climb to the summit of the highest mountain of all North America". We all know it's not the highest peak in North America, in the Eastern U.S, nor in the state of North Carolina.

On another note I love this picture because the lightning seem to be just right yesterday morning to capture this moment.
